New Year’s Resolutions for People with Allergies

After all, spring is around the corner so getting on top of your symptoms now will pay dividends once the pollen season starts!

This year, why not pick a few of the following resolutions to see if you can better manage your allergies in 2018:

  • Eat healthily
Taking care of your body is the first step in making sure that it has everything it needs in to defend itself against allergens. Fill up on plenty of natural, healthy foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains to provide your body with vitamins and minerals that can boost the immune system.

  • Sleep properly
When your body gets tired it is much more susceptible to allergens. Create a regular bedtime routine and stick to it to make sure that you get at least 8 hours each night. This will help your body to reduce stress and fight allergies.

  • Quit smoking
Smoking not only increases your chances of getting all kinds of nasty diseases and cancers, but it is a huge trigger for a lot of different allergies. Make 2018 the year that you stop.

  • Give your bedroom a makeover
You spend at least a third of your life in the bedroom, so make sure that it is allergy-proof by removing clutter, creating clear surfaces that are easy to clean, re-carpet or lay a laminate flooring, encase your mattress and pillows, keeping pets out of the bedroom, and using an air purifier.

We hope that 2018 is the year that you get on top of your allergy symptoms!
